I see the Convictions Australian Shipping database has a couple of earlier voyages (1873/74) of a ship called the "Nubia", which originated in Point de Galle, Ceylon, and travelled via Albany (WA) to Melbourne.  It was a steamer - could be the same ship?

SueChris,
I found this at my local library.
Nubia -  from Bombay.
The children are not named - also the parents do not have their christian names listed. Under the heading children between 1 & 12 - there was one male and two females for this family. What puzzles me is under the heading married age of each adult 12 years and upwards - they have 2 males - listed for this family. Perhaps you can work this out.

Hi Sarra, what a faboulous website this is - being able to share information is so helpful.

You may have discovered where this family sailed from
to reach Victoria.

We are looking for Isaac & Margaret Smale born Cornwall around 1833, known son Isaac Smale born 1858 Alderney Channel Islands, son Walter born around 1867/8 where ?,
daughter Grace Matilda born Plymouth 1867 and now I may have added another sibling - Chas Hy Smale who I have found on the Victorian pioneer register (I have a print out for all the Smales) marriage in 1891 to Kate McLellan and his birth place is Bombay India.  I do not know when Chas was born - I will have to have another look through the Pioneer Index to see if I can find a death. That leaves one more child to find.

Thanks a lot, Sue
