1841 Census - Robert Gentry - COMPLETED WITH MANY THANKS TO SUE TEAKLE
« on: Wednesday 02 August 06 23:27 BST (UK) »
Could someone please do a look up on 1841 census for Robert Gentry age 32 occupation Fisherman and his wife Lucy age 33.  They will have one son Samson age 3.  I do not know if there will be any other children.  On 1851 census they were living in West Mersea.

With many thanks.

This from the 1841 - sorry, I can`t decipher Roberts occupation  :(

Robt Gentry, 30,    ?,  Y
Lucy Gentry, 30, Y
Eliza Gentry, 5, Y
Samson Gentry, 2, Y

Living in Mersea Street, West Mersea

HO107/342/8  Folio 14  Page 5

There are two other names which could be part of the household, difficult to be sure:-

James Mole (?),  12, Y
John Mole (?), 9, Y

Hi Sue

Many thanks for the information.  I didn't know about Eliza so it may be she had died by 1851.  There is a John Mole lodging with the family in 1851 occupation fisherman so whether the Moles are related in any way I don't know.

However, thank you very very much for the information.  It is greatly appreciated.

With best wishes.

The mole the census  declares as a  "lodger" was Lucy's son from a previous marriage to a Johnathon Mole on 8Th of November 1826, of which she was widowed.  There are two Lucy's born not to far apart in the area which has added to much confusion, whatsoever this Lucy born in 1807 was the daughter of John Pullen born in 1778  and Lucy Lilly Born 1788.
Juniper, Gentry, Munsen, Pullen, Bennewith, Catton, Huddleston(e) Bosworth, Livermore.

Thank you for clearing up who the Moles were.  I am now doing some research on the family so thank you for your input which is very helpful.  Kind regards
