Hi Ricky

Were you wondering what a lighthouse was doing on the Somerset Levels, miles from the sea?

hi junket
Looking for ancestors nothing surprises me about addresses that are given, you should see some of the posts, but I will ask about the lighthouse, it might come in useful one day.

ricky

P.S I couldn't see Edward in Meare on the 1881 census sheets

Hi Ricky

Godney Lighthouse, is a cottage, beside a river, on the Somerset Levels, a light was put in the window at night to guide travellers to the only  ford on the  river, also the cottage was once a meeting house, hence the name Prayway'.

we have been back to the 1881 census and cannot find Edward Andrews anyehere in the country.  He was possibly Walter Edward Andrews, but cannot find this name either. Any suggestions ?  We found a marriage for Walter Edward and an Ann Clark, in 1880.

Samuel was Charles's son but Edward is still a mystery, and the one we are interested in.

Oh well back to the searching, thanks for you help, we know more tonight than we did when we woke this morning.

Hi Ricky

Thanks, this looks like we have found him, or the link we hoped to find and of course given us loads to work from.

thank you once again for all your help, it is much appreciated and answered a few questions for my husband, but also created a few more, as is usual.

Cheers
