Help to decipher name on cert
« on: Monday 14 August 06 18:46 BST (UK) »
HI

Can someone try to decipher what the maiden name is for the mother of Ann Trainer who married William Carr.

They are the top couple on the image.  We know it will be something Irish as that is where the parents of Ann Trainer are from.

Thanks to anyone in advance for at least looking.

Wendy

It's always the name you want that is faded isn't it?

It looks like Luffy or Duffy or even could be McLuffy or McDuffy.  It looks like the first letter or letters are faded.

Is there anyway you could enlarge it Wendy?

Kind regards

Definitely something that ends in "uffy" but the image is a bit faded. Posting an enlargement of the area may help to decipher it.

If this doesn't help you could contact Scotlandspeople. I've had a couple of images from Scotlandspeople in which the digital image is very, very faded and basically nothing can be made out. What you can do in the case of images that are poor quality (as is the case around the beginning of the surname) is send them an email through the website giving them details of the certificate (Year, District, Event, Names involved and the GROS data from the column before the . link (you can check through viewed images to get this). They will normally send you a photocopy of the entry enlarged to A3 with the brightness adjusted. I've sent for two entries where the writing on the image is totally faded and illegible but when I got the enlargements they very so easy to read (and they refunded the credits for the images too!).

Hi All

thank you for the advice on the deciphering I have removed the image for now and will post when I have made it smaller.
