Hi Robin Hood

Thanks for doing that look up.

I have the cd from the Nottingham FHs which is supposed to have 248,000+ names covering the whole of Nottinghamshire in 1841 and the 1851 for City of Nottingham - I hate using it because you have to load the data in Access and search it from there. (I probably was not searcing it correctly)

I prefer to use Excel.

Anyway, I appreciate you helping out

Hi Chris

That's a lovely offer.

I wonder whether I could be so bold as to ask for your help with  any info on the following names:

Benjamin Hickling (profession - Collier) & Ellen Hickling (nee Kirk), I believe they married around 1851 time but their daughter, Eliza wasn't born untill 1854 - Basford area

Joseph Worthington (profession - Sawyer) & Mary Worthington (nee Green), had son Charles Worthington born 21.11.1850 - Bingham area

John Pride born C. 1835 had son George Pride born c 1855 (George married Mary Ann Brown around 1876) - not sure of area in Nottingham (the Prides are proving to be the most elusive).

Samuel Hardstaff born C.1823, married Ann Noble born C. 1811 - daughter Mary Hardstaff born C. 1843 - West Leake area

William Flint born C. 1823, had son Samuel Flint born C. 1844 Sam's mother is unknown but this was also the West Leake area.

I'm sorry if there are a lot but I have become really stuck with this side of the family and have hit brick walls on most sides as I don't have a lot of birth/marriage certificates.

Any help you can provide with these would be really greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Dee

Hello
Chris i was hoping that you maybe able to help me with my research seeing as im now on the trail of the surname Elliott and seeing as you have many nottinghamshire archives could you help with these
JOHN LESTER ELLIOTT-(sometimes known as LESTER ELLIOTT) born wysall, and was 56, in 1891 census.
MARY (possibly ANN as middle name)ELLIOTT, 56, in 1891 census, born sutton bonnington.
According to the 1891 census they were living in Elliotts building and he was an estate labourer, all sounds interesting,as the main house was called Elliotts house, any help would be most grateful on census, marriages, deaths.
               Regards in advance
                Darryl
p.s. I did send you a private message but am unsure whether you received that :)
           All the best

Darryl

Hi there

First of all, I was born in the next village to Sutton Bonnington (Normanton on Soar) and my mum and her parents + proved ancestors back to late 17th century all came from Sutton Bonnington - so am pretty familiar with the territory.
When I first got my motorbike in the early 1960's, Wymeswold, Wysall, Willoughby, Rempstone etc were stamping grounds.

Can you please give the reference number to find Lester on the 1891 census, as I was trying to aquaint myself with the family - but can not find them, although I did locate several Elliott families in Wysall

I have been to busy on the boards today, have got several personal messages not read.

Hello there again

I have temporarily shifted from studying Sussex relations to a branch of my husbands family.

Please could you look up the following in the 1841 and 1851 Nottingham census:

Thomas Turner born @1816 Nottingham, married to Mary born @1817 Nottingham.  I'm afraid I don't know the address(es) but I would imagine that it could be something to do with the licensed trade, as later on by at least 1862 Thomas was the keeper of the Black Boy Hotel.

I am hoping they were married by 1841 as at least one of their children (Joseph) was born in 1843.

Much obliged Chris.

Hi there

1841 Census for Wysall - Adult ages rounded down to nearest 5

Name, Age, Occupation, Born in County, Folio & Piece, Place

William   ELLIOTT, 7,  Y, 6 - 863, WYSALL  WYS
Catherine   ELLIOTT, 9,  Y, 5 - 863,  WYSALL  WYS
Mary   ELLIOTT, 50, Y,  5 - 863, WYSALL  WYS
Thomas   ELLIOTT, 50, Ag Lab, Y, 5 - 863  WYSALL  WYS
William   ELLIOTT,     1, Y, 6 - 863, WYSALL  WYS
Harriot   ELLIOTT,    15,  Y, 10 - 863, WYSALL  WYS

There are 4 different folio numbers above - 5, 6, 7 & 10; so think more than one family

Hi Chris,
If possible can you check for a Pitblade or Pladdy(various spellings - same family).  I have a death certificate for Thomas Pitblade, aged 26 yrs. 8 October 1857.  He died in the Union Workhouse, Sub-district St Annes, Nottingham.  He and his mother (widow of School Master) both disappeared after Thomas Sr's. death in Egremont, Cumberland 1849, so I wondered if they were in Nottingham in 1851.  Thomas (Jnr) was born Harrington, Cumb. but Mary Ann (nee McGeorge) was probably born Liverpool, Lancs.  Mary Ann would be around 52 yrs. though I have no definite age for her.

Thank you,

Joan
