more help please :)
« on: Sunday 20 August 06 10:57 BST (UK) »
I've got another thing I can't read - I'm not doing very well today!

Can anyone read the lower two occupations? i think the bottom one is book-something...

Thanks very much!

The second on looks to me like "merchatile". Could this be a miss spelling for "mercantile" therefore being a merchant?

be interesting to see what others make of this one.

At first I thought(as old rowley did) that it said Merchatile.

BUT.............if you look at the M on the word Maker  above, this one is nothing like it.

So I'm wondering now if it does indeed begin with an M?

Ok Carrie- thanks for that extra info.

So the enumerator does occasionally do posh M's  ;D ;D ;D

See also the word Manufacturer about a dozen names up.

So I do still agree with Old Rowley that it could well say Mercatile(with the N missing)
