We are trying to find out info about my wifes family. She was born Mary Josephine Doyle in September 1968. Her mother was Catherine Doyle who was born in the County Home, Enniscorthy on 12/03/39, the daughter of James & Mary Doyle, (Nee Fortune), of Church Road, Newtownbarry, who had married in the RC Church of Clonegal, (Carlow) on 19/01/38. We would like contact with any Doyle/Fortune relatives, (we are in contact with the children of James second marriage to Margaret Murphy, but they have no info on his first marriage). We believe that James had a brother called Laurence, who had sons called Bernard and Alphonse, (or similar) and lived in Ferns.
The main things we currently need help with are:
1. What is the name of/where is the RC Church of Clonegal?
2. We cannot find any record of Mary Doyles death, we believe that she may have died soon after Catherine was born, certainly at his second marriage in 1943/4, James was described as a widower.
3. Why would Catherine have been born at the County Home in Enniscorthy, When her birth cert seems to indicate that her parents were living at Newtownbarry?
