Swerford - Gulliver??
« on: Wednesday 23 August 06 10:24 BST (UK) »
I only joined this morning, so appologies if I get this wrong, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with some ancestors from Swerfod.

I have details of a marriage in Hook Norton on 3 Mar 1823 between Joseph Phillips and Mary [C or G][o or u] lliver.

We're not entirely sure of the surname but think it is Gulliver.  According to the census Mary was born in Swerford around 1796. Can anyone see if there was a Mary Gulliver baptised in Swerford around that time?

Thanks
Pip

Thanks!

That is the one, but I'm not sure the transcription of the bride's surname is correct.  I was hoping finding her baptism might help.

1 July 1798 Mary Gulliver d Thomas and Mary in Swerford

There is also a James in 1792, Elizabeth 1790, Henry 1785, Thomas 1782, maybe Eleanor 1780 listed under Gulliman. There is a 1778 marriage of Thomas Gulliver and Mary Clack.

There are quite alot of Gulliver entries in the Register you might want to look at it if you're interested in the siblings.

Thank you!
Are the OFHS transcribed registers on CD the only version of the records available for Oxfordshire or is there somewhere I can see/buy scans of the original documents?
