Fletcher - Toronto, Ontario
« on: Wednesday 23 August 06 17:37 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone,
How have you all been?

Have a couple of questions
My Grandmother was born in Toronto in 1912, KarenM informed me stats Canada was just now preparing to release 1909 births. I went online to order her birth certificate but was asked if I am 'next of kin' or 'executor of will'. Could I be considered a next of kin even though my Dad and Aunt would officially be next of kin. Has anyone ordered a Grandparent's birth certificate that still has a living parent, or sibling of parent. Would I need a certificate or proof of death as she only died a couple of years ago?

Also my Gr. Grandmother (Nan's mom) was apparently pregnant on the trip over to Canada, it's possible she may have lost the baby on the trip over. Does anyone know if this would have been registered here in Canada?

Hi Denise!

Welcome back havn't seen you for a while.

I have ordered certificates and since your dad and aunt are alive, the are the next of kin.  Just like when I ordered my grandparents wedding certificate I had to get permission from the "next of kin".  I typed up a letter for my mother to sign and they (Vital Statitics) was satisified.  I didn't send them proof of death, but if you have it would make things easier I suppose.
