Henchcliffe- Mackworth, Derby - 1841 & beyond
« on: Wednesday 23 August 06 22:37 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I am looking for info on the descendants of Henry Hand Henchcliffe b1787 in the Derby area (probably Mackworth).

I know he had a fair few kids, including Henry b1815 (my ggg grandad), Edward b1819 and John b1824.

It is Edward and John I am looking to find, as I don't know anything else about them or their descendants.

Thanks for any help.

:)

Hi
This is the only Edward Henchcliffe in the 1861 census (and I used variants for the surname). None in Derby.

Address: Love Lane, Wakefield
RG09 piece3422 folio 14 page 22
Henchcliffe Edward head 41 plumber and glazier b Barmby Furness, county of York
Henchcliffe Rebecca wife 54 plumber wife b Wakefield Yorkshire
Henchcliffe John E son 13 plumbers son not ap b Wakefield yorkshire
Henchcliffe William F brother visitor unmarried 27 plumber and glazier b Well Green parish of Rothwell Yorkshire.

There are lots of possibles for John but none born in Derby; all in Yorkshire, bar one who was born in Notinghamshire.

Where were your John and Edward born? If you can give me a bit more info I might be able to narrow them down.

Cheers, Rian.

Hi,

This is a connection to the Phillimore Mariages at Mackworth Derbys, many of which
do not appear on the IGI or only as Patron Submitted items.

There is a marriage of a John Hencliffe of Dalbury Derbys and Margaret Shaw of
Mackworth 31.5.1784, just wondered if these were the parents of Henry B 1788?

This looks as if the spelling Hencliffe, is the first time this appears at Mackworth as
previous entries appear to be Henchliffe.

Thanks both.

Spendlove, as far as I know, Henry b1788's father was Edward. maybe it was Edward's brother do you think?

Hello, don't know if you still have access to this or still use it.

It was down as Henchliff on records for Edward (b 1760), sometimes spelt Henkeliffe,  he married an Elizabeth Hand in 1782.

My own tree begins at his son William.
