Followed the James Williams that was boarding with Rachel Thomas back to the early census and found him in the 1871 with the same birth place as seen in the 1891 census.

household is as living in Aberystruth, Monmouthshire

James Williams 39 bn Herefordshire Occ Forge labourer

Sarah 35 bn in Radnorshire

Thomas 16  ""

James 15 bn in Nant*** Monmouthshire

Phillip 11  ""

John A 6   ""

Hannah 3  ""

So could this James be family to William Williams?

He maybe related in one or another I will see if I can see another James with similar birth details simply becase I can't see the same parents James and Sarah with a son called William.

HI Allegs

and they say keep it in the family looks like James above married Rachel Thomas

Rachel Thomas -  marriage registered in the July to August quarter of 1894  in Middlesbrough

And on the same page is a James Williams

REfs
Volume 9d

page 924

The 1901 census shows a James Williams right age with a wife names Rachel right age with a daughter named Amy age 9.

Families, who'd have em

Legs,

searched name by name for them in Wales and England, but no joy. Any chance they may have emigrated? lt might explain why Margaret was with her aunt and uncle in 1901.

Either that or it one huge mistranscription.

l'll keep trying  ::) Slee

Thank you Winston and Slee,

Winston - William Williams occ on his marriage cert was Iron Worker, his father James was a General Labourer.

Slee, I have no idea about emigration, it never even crossed my mind.  Martha (Pattie) definately emigrated, she ended up in Miami, she left the UK in about 1925.  In the late 1940's Elizabeth Ann Hewitts daughter Evelyn and family moved out to the US also.

Margaret stayed in the UK, she died in Middlesbrough in 1927.  As for the rest - I have no idea!

Another snippit of info from my new cousins - they have a death notice for a Rachel Donaghy, aged 9, 7 January 1938.  She was buried at Eston Cemetery.  My cousin thinks that she was the daughter of one of Martha (pattie) and Margarets sisters.  I cannot find a marriage for an Amy or Rachel Williams to a Mr Donaghy, neither can I find a birth for Rachel, I have searched from 1921-1930 so far.  I did however find 2 Donaghy births with mothers maiden name as Williams, Kathleen in Septh 1/4 1925 and Francis December 1/4 1921, both in the district of Middlesbrough.

I was wondering if Rachel's grave at Eston was still standing?  she was buried in section M grave number 563....would the MI give us any clues?

Sorry I'm adding more confusion!  My head is about to explode!!

Thank you all for your help.

Love
