These are the only Thomas' I can find in Bulwell

1841  Thomas Gent b 1821 single
1851 born 1819 single
1861 b 1815 married to Mary age 34 no children
1871 b1817 widowed

Sorry Tricia, I wasn't ignoring you on purpose  The thread moved so fast I missed it!

Well our Thomas 1814 is the only baptism showing on the Bulwell transcriptions, so it's hopeful. Possible marriage Mansfield St Peter 05/11/1860 to Mary Kerswell Hoskin. Not sure when i'll get to the Archives next but I can put it on my "to do" list!

There's only the one showing up on the census but wanted to be sure.

Thought you might miss it so I went back and highlighted the first line

Christine hopes we will have a connection. I am pretty sure we will because I should think all the Gents in Bulwell were related.

The only way is to prove that her John Gent and my William Gent(1806) were related so if you spot anything we would be really grateful.

I have been trying to find sites that do BMD before 1837 other than IGI but there are not many are there.

Yes I noticed that on the 1841 seemed a bit strange unless the youngest one is really a grandchild.

I got a death certificate for my grandmother to try and get some information and hopefully her date of birth but it does not even do that.

Sorry I did not get back on last night. The Grandmother I am looking for seems impossible to find. I know very little about her. The things I know for definate is her name and her Fathers name which are.

Sarah Jeffery c1887, I think born in Devon and by 1901 census that we think is right born in Ilfracombe.

Thomas Jeffery c1867 (Bridport- this is from 1901census)

The only other things I have been told is that she had a brother called Tom and a sister named Susan but I believe there were more than that.

I seent for Mary birth certificate to get Mother's maiden name and it is Trim, but can't find marriage for Thomas and her.

I have both myGrandmother's wedding certificates thats how I found her Father's name. He was a Foreman in HM dockyard on them.

Her first marriage was in 1911 in Exeter and the second in 1916 in East Stonehouse Plymouth.

I cannot find her birth and I can't find herFather on any other census other than 1901 and possibly 1891.

There are a few people that have tried with this and can't get any further.

Does your Grandmother have a middle name?

I think I have found the entry on 1891 that you have found.

We mustn't assume that Mary's mother is your Grandmother's mother or that everything is recorded correctly on the 1891 entry. I think that is the family

Thomas Jeffery Head  28 Tunnel Miner(Plate) Birthplace difficult to read but looks as though Devon as been dittoed from previous entry(transcribed as Somerset - I would take issue with that)

Sarah and father William transcribed as Exeter but the entry is very faded

Just as an aside I go down to South Brent quite regularly with friends for walikg trips over the moors
