Welsh Honeycomb Blanket
« on: Thursday 04 November 04 11:07 GMT (UK) »
I know this is non-gen. but please can anyone help me?

My husband's family are Monmouthshire POWELLs and when he and I were married 43 years ago his auntie gave us a wonderful honeycomb blanket as a gift - and I still use it!  Now that Brian's niece is to be married he wants to give her something similar. Does anyone know where they are made, please?

Hi, I googled and found Out of Eden can be emailed at sales@outofeden.co.uk
They have honeycombe blankets but if you Google search you may find more.
Hope this helps

:DMany thanks Butterfly for that information. When I searched Google I only managed to get E-Bay and a list of Chinese manufacturers. I will now be able to chekc out Out of Eden.

Do you have any POWELLs from Llantrissent, Merthyr Cynog or Crickardarn?

Regards,
OzzieJoan

Hi again, try my husband's web-site at mike-powell.com he has lots on that and it's still being up-dated.
Wish you success with your blanket as well as your research,
Eileen :)

Hello Eileen  :D
Thanks, I'll go look at his site.  Unfortunately, the Out of Eden site's blanket was just an acrylic one. What I'm looking for is pure wool and very thick because of the way it is woven. Could be the company are no longer in business.
I'm trying one of the smileys again, I don't seem to be able to get them to work.

Thanks for everyone's help on this but I've had to give it up as a bad job and consider that the blanket I was given 40 years ago is now an heirloom  ;D

Will have to think of something else for the gift.
