Just To make it more  interesting!

This is a photo of the lady who the photos belonged to - her name is Amelia Castle and the photo was taken on her 18th Birthday in 1888 - can you see any resemblance to the others?

Cheers
Jan

Hi all,

The thing on the mantlepiece is indeed a fan, a Japanese style one (you get them as freebies in Japan to this day, with advertising printed on them!).

I would put the date of this photo around 1890, give or take a year or two.

Forget the sheepskin - I can't believe none of you have noticed the possum-skin rug under Sir's feet!  :o  ;D

I have,  at work, lists of early Aust photographers, so if I remember when I get there this morning, I will have a look for Mr Allan and see what dates he was operating in Collingwood.

Doesn't really help with your Brighton Beach photo though... :-\

Hi Prue

It will certainly help!  Thanks very much!

after a lot of research this weekend its looking far more likely to be a Castle or Price connection and now Harvey! Hannah Price married Walter Harvey 1867 Aston, Birmingham - no trace of them since so maybe they emigrated?

Thanks for all your opinions! Others seem to think the Couple photo is earlier than the Beach photo ::) ::) ::)

Cheers
