Thanks BallyaltikilliganG - not sure if they connect at all.

Patrick McClory is on the 1863 Valuation Survey in Tullyorior (it is known in the family that this is where they came from).  Patrick McClory married Margaret McShane.  We don't know when Patrick was born but it would be earlier than 1838. He had sons Patrick (eldest son) and Hugh (born c1855 - the younger son) and also several daughters Brigit, Mary Catherine, Margaret, Annie, Agnes and Sophia. Hugh married at Banbridge RC church.

Kilmartin

Kilmartin, my great great great grandmother and grandfather are Patrick McClory and Margaret McShane. Their daughter Agnes (b. 1865) is my great great grandmother, who moved to Scotland in the late 1880s. This thread doesn't look like it's been active in a while but I'd love to know if you found out more about Patrick and Margaret. Fingers crossed you get this message.

If anyone is interested I live in Tullyorior Banbridge next door to Patrick Mc Clory and will give you any information you wish

Hi Mick,

That's amazing. Does Patrick know much about his family history? I've been looking at Griffith's Valuation and there are several pieces of land leased by Patrick(s) McClory on what is Tullyorior Road today so it's brilliant that there's still someone there all these years later.

Hi sottonscotted,

Yes, we do have a bit of information about Patrick and Margaret McClory.  Patrick 1822 - 1894  was the son of Patrick McClory and Sarah.  Patrick and Margaret's daughter Agnes married William McCusker and moved to Scotland. Another daughter Catherine married James McClorey and also moved to Scotland. Mary married James Costello and moved to the US. Hugh married Annabella Burns and moved to England. Margaret married John McAnearney.  Patrick married Susan Hillen and has descendents still living in the Tullyorior area. The McClorys have lived there for many generations now. There were also three other daughters Brigid, Rose Anne and Sophia.

Thanks for all the help. Any ideas about Annabella Burns?  On the 1911 Census she gives her place of birth as Newtownards and on her marriage her father is named as Peter Burns a miner.  But there are also lots of Burns families in the Tullyorior/Annaclone area too.

Annabella born c1854 so before the start of civil registration of births in 1864. You'll need to find baptism records.
Seapatrick RC records https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0456

Baptisms in Newtownards only start in 1864.
