Hi ScRoppers

What is this ccApps process?

I've just had a quick look and see that various forums describe it as malware or a virus.

Is it a legitimate process?

I sometimes have problems with this ccApps too - but since I run Norton and Adware regularly I don't think it can be a virus or malware  - it certainly has nuisance value tho!

I dont think its Malware - my system is squeaky clean from Virus, Adware etc    ... I havent delved, but I believe its some sort of interface from OUTLOOK to WORD (the preferred Editor)   .... as I say, I dont see the Shutdown process forcing it to terminate unless I've left OUTLOOK open ...

Hi gcar

It's probably not a hardware problem.  Take a look in:

Start->Settings->Control Panel->System and click on the Hardware tab.

Then click on the Device Manager button.  Have a look down the list of devices and see if there are any yellow triangles next to the device.  If there are then you have a problem.  It shouldn't cause a shutdown problem though.

When did this shutdown problem first start?

Is it a fairly recent thing?

Hardware problems arent always properly captured by XP in terms of highlighting them like that ..... often a dropped bit in a Memory array can cause program checks in Supervisory code that causes hangs not attributable to a specific device ....  but anyway, the thing to do is ensure nothing obvious is wrong, get ALL FIXES up to date then review....
