Hi Nomee

I know a bit about the BROYDs of Finchingfield.  My great grandfather, Percy Charles BROYD was born there in 1890.  Can you tell me anything more about your BROYD great grandfather?

Best wishes

Hi again

There are a number of online sources you can use to find out more about your ancestors.  Some of them do require payment.

From the 1901 census
Reference: RG 13/1740 f.87 p.8
New England, Poslingford, West Suffolk (4 rooms)
Charles Rawlinson, Head, M, 38, Agrl Labourer, Worker, [born] Suffolk Poslingford
Eliza Rawlinson, Wife, M, 41, Suffolk Poslingford
Albert Rawlinson, Son, S, 16, Agrl Labourer, Suffolk Poslingford
Ernest Rawlinson, Son, S, 12, Suffolk Poslingford
Rose Rawlinson, Daur, S, 9, Suffolk Poslingford
Aurther Rawlinson, Son, S, 6, Suffolk Poslingford
Alfred Rawlinson, Son, S, 3, Suffolk Poslingford
Hilda G Rawlinson, Daur, S, 1mo, Suffolk Poslingford

From the incomplete but free index to births, marriages and deaths on FreeBMD (www.freebmd.rootsweb.com) there is a possibility for their marriage:
Marriage registered in the October-December quarter 1882
CRYSELL   Eliza, Risbridge Registration District, vol.4a p.941
RAWLINSON Charles, Risbridge 4a 941

From the 1891 census

Reference: RG 12/1438 f.92 p.11
New England, Poslingford, Suffolk (3 rooms)
Charles Rawlinson, Head, Married, 28, Agricultural Laborer, Poslingford Suffolk
Eliza Rawlinson, Wife, Married, 32, Stansfield Suffolk
Laura Elizabeth Rawlinson, Daur, 8, Poslingford Suffolk
Albert Rawlinson, Son, 6, Poslingford Suffolk
Ernest Willm Rawlinson, Son, 2, Poslingford Suffolk

You can also check for Charles and Eliza on the 1881 census index which is freely available at www.familysearch.org.

I'll check for entries in the 1871 census in a little while.

And the 1871 census entries

RG 10/1713 f.128 p.17
New England, Poslingford, Suffolk
William Rollinson, Head of family, Married, 33 or 30?, Farm Labourer, Poslingford
Elizabeth Rollinson, Wife, Married, 33, Hawkedon
Lucy Rollinson, Daughter, 11, Poslingford
Charles Rollinson, Son, 8, Poslingford
John Rollinson, Son, 6, Poslingford
Nells? Emely Rollinson, Daughter, 4, Glemsford
Albert Rollinson, Son, 1, Glemsford

And a possibility for Eliza (ignoring the age discrepancy as the same woman is described as aged 22 10 years later !):

RG 10/1713 ff.46-47 pp.16-17
Nethergate St, Clare, Suffolk
Henry Hailey, Head, Mar, 43, Plumber & Glazier, Gt Missenden, Bucks
Jane Hannah Hailey, Wife, Mar, 33, Leyburn, Yorkshire
Melina F Hailey, Daur, 6, Scholar, Clare, Suffolk
Thomas C Hailey, Son, 4, Scholar, Clare, Suffolk
William H Hailey, Son, 1, Clare, Suffolk
Arthur J Hailey, Son, 5mo, Clare, Suffolk
Mary Hailey, Mother, 77, Amersham, Bucks
Eliza Crysell, Servant, 18, General Servant, Stansfield, Suffolk

Hope this helps

Hi

John Broyd was sometimes known as Jack like you said and i don't know when Rose and John were married except that my grandad was born in1927 and he had an older brother and sister.

Hi Nomee

Are you doing a One Name Study on the entire family name or are you just after information on these particular individuals?

If the latter is the case I will gladly move the post for you to a more relevant board which may help to generate a response for you.   Please let me have any information on possible locations (County etc.) so I can place it in the right board.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
