HORN: Bucks & Beds (All Dates)
« on: Wednesday 13 September 06 12:26 BST (UK) »
Hi

After researching my whole family tree for a couple of years or more I have found that my grandmothers family 'HORN' were/are quite a large family, so much so that they somehow have took over :D  ::).

They mainly lived in the area of Ivinghoe Bucks and Eaton Bray Beds.
but have found some family members in Hendon Middlesex

On my line I have so far got back to William Horn B1740 Ivinghoe married to an Esther Deeley.b 1742

I do have many others which I am sure are linked (as some Horn family members married other Horn family members)  :o I would love to link them and go back even further if at all possible.

Anyone out there doing the same name? please contact me.

Mandy

Hi Mandy,

I'm a descendant of John Horn and Emma Brigginshaw of Ivinghoe Aston, through their son Thomas, b.1855.

I'd be interested to see what information you have on the line going further back, as I have a problem with John's parents; I know John's father was Thomas Horn, but opinions differ among other people I've contacted on the GenesRU and Ancestry sites as to whether it was Thomas Horn b.1789 married to Elizabeth Windmill, or Thomas Horn b.1791 married to Ann Cooper, and I can't find direct evidence for either.

The Horns certainly were a big part of Ivinghoe Aston - in the 1841 census, out of about 450 inhabitants of the village area, there were 19 Horn families!

Which line do you come down from?

Jeff

Thanks moses, I'm pretty convinced of this by several other people as well. But can you tell me the primary source of the evidence please? And are you part of this line?

Also, I wonder if you can confirm (or otherwise) this line of descendants from William Horn b. app 1675?

1. William Horn (b. app 1675) m. 1700 Sarah Barnes (b. app 1675), begat
2. Francis Horn (b. 1711) m. 1735 Mary Astin (b. app 1715), begat
3. William Horn (b. app 1741) m. 1763 Esther Deeley (b. app 1742), begat
4. William Horn (1764-1824) m. 1785 Deborah Tilcox (b. app 1771), begat
5. Thomas Horn (b. 1791) m. 1810 Ann Cooper (b.1787)

Regards,
Jeff

Hello
I hope you don't mind me contacting you, as I know this post was from quite a few years ago now.

I am also a (very very distant) descendant of John Horn & Emma Brigginshaw.  Through their son Christopher Horn.  I am quite new to this so I haven't researched this line of my family for very long, I have some information but I nothing on Thomas (born 1855).
Would you have any information I could have a look at.  I am registered on Ancestry.com so you are most welcome to look at the tree I have collated so far

Best Wishes
Hayley

Welcome to Rootschat Hayley.
The other posters on this quer have not been on here for  few years.
If they are still around and/or have the same email address they will be notified of you query on this.

1841 Census John is Married to Eunice;
John Horn, 25
Eunice Horn, 25
Salley Horn, 3
George Horn, 1

18 Mar 1849 he married Emma BRINKINSHAW as you know, Fathers THOMAS and JOHN
(F/S.Org)

1st Marriage;
10 October 1836, Ivinghoe, Buckingham
John HORN to Eunice HORN
(F/S.Org)

I cant find a Tree that has picked that up as they all seem to have Sallys Mother as Emma!

George age 1 in 1841 seems to have died same year (FreeBMD)

Death Reg;
EUNICE Horn, June 1847,  Leighton Buzd, 6 60
(FreeBMD)

So all Children born 1836-1847 would have Eunice as their Mother.

EUNICE Horne was likely Christened 4 November 1812, Iviinghoe, Father DANIEL
(F/S.Org)
Possible Marriage for Daniel HORN to Mary PITCHFORD, 26 Feb 1786 Ivinghoe (FreeREG)

Hi there,
I am also related to Thomas Horn and Ann Cooper through David Horn 1827-1892 their youngest son. He married Susan Turner 1828-1908  on 26 May 1850 and he and his family emigrated to Australia 3 May 1874 on the 'Glamorganshire'. They settled in the Maryborough, Queensland area.
Cheers Teresa

Welcome to Rootschat treesrgreen76 (Teresa).

I am not sure if you will get a reply from others on this query related to the Horns.
Mandy/Jeff/Hayley haven't been on here for a few years and Hayley never replied to the info I posted.

If you need any help just ask.

Trish :)
