How can anyone possibly 'own' their ancestors ??

Families are made up of males and females, who marry into many and varied families, whose children go on to marry into more diverse families, and so on and so on ....... ad infinitum.

Surely, the satisfaction of doing one's family history is to know that the research was thorough, and the resultant 'tree' is a bona fide one.

If one then chooses to place this information in the 'public' forum, then one has to accept that it will be 'poached' one way or another, for better or worse.

When I set up my website some years back (see profile below), I did it in the hope that others would find their roots through mine, and vice versa, and it's worked very well indeed.

Hi
Sometimes it is of help with your research.
But sometimes it can be a pain.
As I found with one man, who has given my sisters and I the wrong father. So making my Mother married to my Dad's brother. When I e.mailed him and pointed out his mistake he said that he would put right the mistake.
But I find months later it is still there for everyone to see.
This is a bit nasty of him, not to correct his error!
So what do you folks suggest I do about him.
Kind regards Chris
