Looking for BROWN 1851 census
« on: Sunday 07 November 04 06:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I don't know if there was a census in Scotland in 1851, but I'm looking for a family (two families actually, I think) that immigrated to Australia in 1854.

Family One
Father - David Brown b. 04 Apr 1812 Scotland
Mother - Elizabeth Terris b.07 May 1810 Scotland
Children:
Margery b. about 1835
Helen b. about 1836
Anne b. about 1838
Catherine b. about 1844

Family Two
Father - William Brown b. about 1827
Mother - Elizabeth b. about 1834
Children:
Robert b. about 1850
Anne b. about 1853

I think they were all born in Scotland (possibly in Clackmannanshire), they all came to Australia aboard the "Indian Ocean" which arrived in October 1854 in Victoria.

Any information is greatly appreciated
