Editing & Deleting

Anyone know the vagaries of these functions ?

Sometimes you can delete, sometimes you cant - and it doesnt seem dependant on other later postings ..

EDIT - sometimes you see a footnote in Italics noting when and who last editted .... sometimes you dont ..

Is there a reason ?

I know that you can't delete a thread unless you started it, and that you cannot delete a thread that you started once someone has replied to it.  (If you feel you need to, just ask a Mod and we will do our best to help).

I am still learning about Editing - I am not sure myself when the footnote comes into play & when it doesn't!  I expect B-Bob knows!

Ta - I meant deleting individual posts ..... I can look at some of the threads I have posted in, and some of my posts have the delete button displayed, some dont  ??

Well I can delete it, but that wouldn't answer your question.

True ..... and it makes sense that a populated thread cant be deleted - but then the delete button shouldnt be displayed in a perfect world

well I started a topic, it has had views but no replies. & there is no option for me to delete it - tell me more - is there a time limit

You can only delete a post if its the LAST one on that thread.
Once someone else has replied, then you can only modify or edit your posts.
