In terms of post 1837 districts, Uxbridge 'owned' Hillingdon until 1894 ....  http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/districts/uxbridge.html

Looking in the IGI for Parishes, Hillingdon doesnt show .... Uxbridge does (doesnt mean it wasnt a Parish tho) ...

Looking in PARLOC ...

In 1799 Uxbridge was a parish in its own right and still is.  Hiilingdon has been a parish since at least 1650 and also still is.

The civil situation adds to the confusion.

Hillingdon was in the borough of Uxbridge in the 20th century until 1967 when they both became part of the new London Borough of Hillingdon

The civil parishes for census and BMD purposes were different yet again as explained above.

Dawn ,Update on my Kings. Thanks to the info you got for me .I have found more on my family. The family had moved to Shoreditch  by 1800  this explains why my direct ancestor John Parsons King married and lived in the area  he had moved there as a child. Two more of his siblings below and his parents in the 1841 census.

Baptisms Shoreditch
Esther Parsons King-Born 24th Aug 1800
Christ-28th Sept 1800

Mary Parsons King
Born-12th Jan 1803
Christ-27th Feb 1803

This lead me to the 1841 census of John and Ann King(My 5x Grandparents
Crowen Buildings,St Leonards Shoreditch
New Hoxton,Middlesex

John King,75,Sawyer,N
Ann King,70,N
Mary Parsons King,38,Y

Problem now is doesnt look like they were born in Middlesex.as it says No for born in county.

1851 Cenus Mary Parsons King with sister Esther

Hoxton NewTown.Shoreditch

James Lloyd,Head,63,Gold ?,Hackney
Esther Lloyd,Wife,50,Shoreditch
Mary King,Sis in Law,48,Dressmaker,Shoreditch

Looks like Esther Parsons King  married twice
First to William Wilson 23rd Dec 1830 Shoreditch
Second to James Lloyd 01st Jan 1836 Shoreditch

So thanks to you have found out much more.My Gran whos side this is is 95 years young and is well chuffed.Big thanks to you and to the Kings who made it easier adding Anns Maiden name as second name to all their children.According to my Gran this family were originally French Hugenouts and were called Le Roi later changed name to King.I need to get back a lot further to confirm or deny this.

Hi Welsh Lady

Happy to have been of help. I'm so pleased your Gran is chuffed  ;D

I did wonder what had happened as the baptisms just stopped after three, in those days the children kept on arriving unless one of the parents died but as I didn't find a burial for either, they obviously moved as you have now found.

So John and Ann didn't make it to the 1851 census, shame, that would have given a clue as to their place of birth. But at least his occupation of sawyer was consistent. Is there a chance they are buried at St Leonards Church?

Going back to their marriage, one of the witnesses was Charles King, do you know who he was?

I don't envy you your search....John and Ann King, not the easiest combination of names to search for  ;D

Happy hunting
