Where is/was FRESGO?
« on: Thursday 28 September 06 09:00 BST (UK) »
In the 1841 Census Simon Thomson (see my other thread - Simon Thomson/Cecelia Henderson) was living with parents William and Mary Thomson at Fresgo. Anyone know what or where this is/was?
Also on the same census, a Cecelia Henderson is listed too, but aged 15. Could this be a simple mistake... writing not easily read perhaps?

Fresgo, or rather Fresgoe, appears to be a farm located at Sandside Bay, 10 miles west of Thurso. If you go to Get a map online free (http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap) you can navigate and enlarge the map until Fresgoe comes into view. You can also find  it mentioned in www.caithness.org/history/history of caithness/chapter12/index.htm

Many thanks. I thought it would be near Thurso somewhere!
