What a fine collection. Unfortunately none of my Nicholsons are on your list. My bunch seem to have lived in Gateshead for an awfully long time starting with Charles born about 1810. If you ever come across any Gateshead Nicholsons, I'd love to hear from you. My grandmother was one of 8 children but I have been unable to trace any family of any of her siblings.

I found you by googling Anthony Nicholson -I'm looking for one b approx. 1777 (my 3 x great grandfather).  He married in Sunderland in 1799, had his children there and died there in 1847,  but I cannot find a baptism for him.

He was a mariner, so I'm starting to look further afield - do you have any further information on your Anthony's?

On your list there is a John Stephenson Nicholson - 1805 Haughton Le Skerne,durham, England. Do you know if there is a connection between the Nicholsons and the Stephensons?

My Grandfather was born in that area in the 1920s but he never knew his father, only that a Mr Stephenson who was adopted by the Nicholsons gave his mother money and somewhere to live.

My grandfathers name was William Stephenson and he lived in Appleton Wisk near Darlington.
