Hereford 1874 ship to NZ ... COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 07 November 04 23:58 GMT (UK) »
I am keen to get a photo of the Hereford - in conjunction with my research I am doing a family scrapbook.
The Hereford took immigrants to Australia and NZ and I have an entry for my family which was found in the Archives NZ - the trip was from UK  and arrived in Wellington July 1874.
Any ideas where I could find a photo.

Hi Gaygirl

Try this website:

www.nmm.ac.uk

They have an image of the Hereford in their historic photo collection. For a fee though of course.

There are a couple of pictures of the ship "Hereford" in the State Library of Victoria's collection - 1881

Have you tried the book "White Wings"?  Your local library should have a copy, ours is very small and they have it.  Don't know if your ship is in there but they do have a good collection of photos.
