Here's a wonderful research tool which is expanding all the time.  Even if your ancestor didn't die in battle you may find other family names, origins, regiment, etc of fallen dead from 1791 onward. 

To search for surnames enter the name in CAPITALS; to search for towns and areas only capitalise the first letter, e.g. "Salzgitter"
