Hi all

Just been reading through this thread. I have baxters in my family tree. I have just looked at the john Baxter I have, born about 1820. He was married to Sarah Shipley. On the 1881 census he is listed as wire worker. I'll have to do some more research this afternoon

The Gazette for 1846 also places Joseph as a wireworker at 127 Belgrave Gate and two Thomas's in other trades, probably not mine as he was already enlisted in the army. I also see six Barsby's in trade on the same page as the Baxters. There are only two John Baxters, Mvann, a baker and a butcher.

I have looked at the gazette before, but was looking for hartshorn family at the time.

On the 1881 census, he was living in churchgate.

My only interest in the baxters is because my 2gtgrandad, Israel coltman was married to Jane Baxter, John's daughter
