Un traceable Death Index
« on: Thursday 05 October 06 11:03 BST (UK) »
Hi
Trying to find the Death of a John Kelleck born 1835 Aldborough Suffolk, 1881 Census living at 102 Abbot Road, Bromley St Leonard, Essex, says he's a Marine Enginer, living with his wife Martha kellock, by 1891 Census Martha is a widow living at 100 first avenue, West Ham. I've looked through Death Index from 1881 to 1892

Thankyou for any help, much apreciated
Tracey

Hi Tracey

If you have done a thorough search of the images and he's not there, I wonder if he could have died at sea ???

There are some "overseas" registers at the Family Records Centre in London and also online (but pay per view) http://www.1837online.com

Thankyou
It's strange too as his marriage to Martha is also not registered, so I will try the oversea section, thanks again

Do you think it could have been an alias or a variant spelling then if you can find no marriage to Martha either ???

Is he KELLECK on all the census etc. from 1841 through to 1881 ???

The IGI has a christening for John Sims Killock, 1835 in ... Suffolk  :D

JOHN SIMS KILLOCK
Christening:  03 JUL 1835   Suffolk County Bts, Suffolk
Father:  HENRY GRAY KILLOCK
Mother:  MARIA

Not sure about the 1846 marriage however. I think I have found Martha in 1871 as
follows:
RG10/1197 126 19
South Stoneham, Hampshire

Martha Kellock, mar, 40, Engineer's wife, b. Southampton
Edwin Davis, son, 14, scholar, b. do.
Fanny Gray, serv, 17, b. Battersea Kent

I can't see Martha in 1861, but I can see a matching Edwin Davis with grandmother Sarah Webb. (10 years back, there's a *possible* Martha Webb, age 21, b. Southampton.)

I'm afraid of no ghost
