Ancestry subs work on a direct debit/ continuous authority basis.
I stick to access at the local library myself.

Hi Alf

I have an annual subscription and it is automatically renewed - unless I cancel. I assume the monthly would be automatic. There is a phone number you can ring when you want to cancel. - from the help

All subscription accounts on Ancestry.co.uk are on an automatic renewal system. During the subscription process, the user agreement must be accepted to both purchase the account and begin using it. The user agreement states that all Ancestry.co.uk subscriptions are automatically renewed. The account is renewed according to the subscription period. ...Fifteen days prior to expiration, an email is sent explaining the renewal process and how to discontinue the account.
If you do not wish your membership to be automatically renewed, or if you wish to cancel any Ancestry account, please call our Member Support Department.

This seems to be the UK phone if you wish to call them 0800 404 9723

Mine is a direct credit (credit card) not debit - I never allow auto debits to my savings accounts.

Hi Alf'
they direct debit each month after you give them permission by giving credit card details.
You could email them direct from subscribe page to check for sure.

Using a  credit card has given them contunuous authority, it's not a direct debit.

Hi
Just to add my ywo pennies worth.

When we originaly subscribed to ancestry we made a point of not clicking the check box to autherise the renewal. At the end of the year our subscription lapsed.

We renewed using the 0800 number and were asked if we wanted to renew at the end of the year.

So I guess you do now have the option to stop them automaticaly renewing.
