Pre 1855 Gravestone Index
« on: Friday 06 October 06 09:59 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I have the pre 1855 gravestone index for Kincardine & the Mearns out from the library if anyone wants a look up.

I am in the process of transcribing the parish records and  recording the stones in Benholm Kirkyard, this is for a "mini" family history centre & local research centre that I am hoping to set up in the kirk - will let you all know of my progress.

Jean

I will have the index until 18th November 2006

Hi Jean

Would you be able to look up the following in the Kincardinshire index for me

(From Vol 1 Perthshire index I think)
In the notes section of Fowlis Wester it says:
"S.R.O.  GD24 Abercairney [Moray & Drummond] muniments section v  includes Estate Papers [see Kincardine {South Perthshire vol 2} inscription 134"

This is from a request for a burial of any Morrells/ Cairney/ Kearney that I have put in the Perthshire section. I am looking for a Cecelia Morrell/Cairney from the Abercairney estate. A kind message from Rae had looked in a Perthshire volume for around Crieff and the above was in the notes section for Fowlis Wester. Cecelia actually died after 1855 but I would like to know more about the Abercairney section if possible. I dont know if there would be anything regarding this but would you be able to look.
Thanks very much.

Julia

Hi Julia,

There's no mention of these names in the Kincardine & Mearns Index.

I think means that there is an entry in the South Perthshire Volume 2?

Hi Jean
Could you look up for me  a Margaret STREET (nee Anderson).  I believe she died in late 1840s - early 1850s, as her husband Joseph remarried in 1852.    They did come from Aberdeenshire, but Joseph remarried in Kincardine.   She would probably have only been in her mid-late 20s at death.
Many thanks for your time.

Anita,

There are no Street gravestones in the index and no Andersons that match your Margaret.

Sorry

I'm afraid Jean is correct, Nita.  A friend and I transcribed the inscriptions from all the headstones in Bervie Kirkyard many years ago, and there is no record of a Margaret Street.  Sorry to be so negative.

Thanks Jean & Bervonian,
I didn't know whether they had actually moved to Bervie or not, just thought I'd find out if she was listed.  It doesn't matter too much to me, as she is the first wife of Joseph, its his second marriage that is my line.   Just wanted closure with Margaret's death details if I could find them.

I'll probably find out eventually one day.   Thanks for your time.

Regards
Anita    :)

Bit of a longshot - are there any Thow (Thaw, Taw) entries? In particular David & Isobel (nee Kinnear), who I'm guessing were born c 1750's - their daughter, Jean, was born in Benholm c 1775.

Also, does the name Youngson appear at all?

YOUNGSON & THAW(VARIATIONS)

Hello there,

There a few Thow etc, give me a bit more info and I'll check them out, looked for David & Isobel - no joy I'm afraid.

Just one Youngson - it's short and sweet.

From Banchory-Devenick

"The burial ground of Wm Youngson. 1840"

and that's it!
