TREMBATH FAMILY
« on: Tuesday 10 October 06 12:31 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a Jesse Trembath (Male).  One of my ancestors  was Eliza Trembath, and it could be that her father was Jesse Wife Ann.  The only marriage I found 1800 was for Giles Trembath.  From 1800 on, there is a succession of children baptised - some to Jesse and Ann Trembath, and some to Giles and Ann Trembath. in St. Just (where I need to look) The last two children baptised, one to Giles, and one to Jesse, both said that the father was a Light house man, which leads me to think they are one and the same.  I couldn't find a bapt. for either Giles or Jesse, or in the 1841 or 1851 census either.

Is any one doing the Trembath family.

Sabrina

Hi Sabrina

I have been working with Cornishpixie on her Trembaths .

Also if you go to 'Search rootschat"  and put in TREMBATH... quite a few people have posted  about their Trembaths from St Just.

It's worth taking a look!!~

Hi Sabrine,

I too have Trembaths in my ancestors which lead back to an Ann Trembath but I don't know who she married either.

Hopefully this may help you, as you have Baptism names for some of the children

Ann Trembath was 55 on the 1841 census at Trewellard, St Just.

Thomas 15   Miner-Copper.
Alice 11 or 13?,  Work at Copper mine.
William 11  Miner -Copper.........(my rellie)
Ho 107/144/8   Page 24   Line 24

I did see another Ann Trembath in the 1841.
 60 ,Servant, Trewellard.

Thank you - I don't think they are mine.  Following is what I have, and am quite confused.  I believe Eliza baptised 1816 is mine.

Marriage 24.05.1800 Giles Trembath and Ann Airs both of parish
Bap: 1800 Ann Trembath     Father: Giles  Mother: Ann
Bap: 1805 Jesse    do          Father: Jesse Mother:Ann
Bap: 1807 Thomas  do        Father: Jesse Mother: Elizabeth ?
Bap: 1811 Mary      do         Father: Giles  Mother: Ann
Bap: 1814 William  do         Father: Giles  Mother: Ann Seaman, Bosavern
Bap: 1816 Eliza      do         Father: Jesse Mother Ann - of Boscaswell,
                                                                                     Lighthouse man
Bap: 1819 Jane      do        Father:  Giles Mother: Ann - of Trevelland
                                                                                     Lighthouse man
Is this one family or two - do they call the father by either name.  There is no marriage for Jesse and Ann, and no Baptism for either Giles or Jesse.

Hi Sabrina,

The only data I have seen with the name Giles included was on Ancestry:

William Giles Trembath:
B 1815
Death 1881 at 66yrs, Penzance Cornwall. 1st qtr, 5c 238.

The three (named William only) in the 1841 census about that birth year were Tin miners..I hoped to find one following fathers occ related to the sea..

Thank you.  There was a william born in the above in 1814.  It is strange that there was a boy called Jesse, but no child called Giles.

The above marriage and children came from a film of St. Just.

I wondered if Jesse was in fact James or a pet name for Giles.

I looked at the Cornish site for Baptisms etc but could not find any of the ones  you have...how odd.  I did find a marriage on the Pallot Index for Giles and Ann Aires. 1800 March 3rd?

I wandered about the spelling of Airs....there are six different ways to spell it but couldn't make any positive connecting. One (Ayres) Census1841 was a Royal     ???    Navigational possibly Officer ( could this mean Lighthouseman?)
In the 1841 there is no column for place of birth but Sussex was mentioned for the  whole family, I was trying to find an Airs family with Giles as Christian name.

The Bap: William 1814 Father Giles Mother Ann...did you mean her surname was Seaman or was that the father soccupation?

The Trembaths I am following are from Trewellard, Pendeen.

William Bap. 1814 - his father was a seaman.
Most of what I have found is on the IGI, but I have checked it on the St. Just Film No. 1596685.  On the IGi, they only say St. Just.  When you look at the film, they break everyone into areas of St. Just, which helps to recognize the children when the parents all have the same names.  Also, you get to photocopy the marriage Banns  certificates.
