New York Passenger Lists - 1861-1891
« on: Wednesday 10 November 04 17:01 GMT (UK) »
Would anybody be kind enough to do a look up for me.

John William Carlyon b. 1826 Cornwall.  Miner by occupation.

He goes 'missing' during this period, leaving behind his wife, Mary, and family. Home address would be Cross Street, Helson. Other members of the family have connections with California, and I think he may have gone to the US for a time.

Ancestory have several hits for this name.

Can anybody help?

Thanks for that Jennifer.

I was looking and the death records last night, and I did notice that Nevada looked 'promising' for Cornwall born Carlyons, although no proof.

Does it mention name of ship or anything. Sorry, but I have no idea what these records tell you.

Regards

The first info I sent you was from the 1870 census...

This is the closest I could find under immigration ship records.. The age seems to be off the 1826 birth year but the rest seems to fit your John...
