Alfred LEDBURY of Shrewton
« on: Tuesday 24 October 06 17:50 BST (UK) »
Hello
Can anyone help me to find out more about my great great granddad. I think he was born in 1811 in Shrewton he was a tailor and had six children. his wifes name was Cecelia but I do not have her maiden name.I have found him as still living in Shrewton in 1841 but after that he dissapears.
Thanks
Bob

There are two deaths
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com
Alfred Lidbury age 74 Dec 1882 quarter Warminster 5a 89
age 64 Dec quarter 1898 Westbury w 5a 79 both Wiltshire
should one of these be him he should be on census maybe with another wife should Cecila have died.

;D Thanks IRRET, couldnt find them for love nor money.....so decided to track the youngest child first  Henry and see what had happened to him. He was in the Warminster for 71 and 81 as a married man but couldnt find him in the 61 so went hunting 8).  In went his first name and date of birth and 3,000 :P Henry's later( just joking ...You know how it is)up came Henry Sidbury with Father Alfred and Mother Cecilia....cant find them in the 51 though...for love nor money.... ;)

                        best wishes cheryle.f

I found Henry married in 71 and 81 and like you no surname and parents but could have only looked at 2,000 well done again a great feeling. I can't believe Sidbury. :o

??? Oh just to add i checked the whole of 1851 Shrewton and Warminster last night page by page....not there .( nothing on tele) ::).  Do you know if there is any of Warminster missing though. I couldnt seem to find the same place that they were living in the 61 at all ??? I wonder what wonderful interpretation of Ledbury the enumerator has in the 51 ...I would put money on them being there somewhere as the other children were born in between 1842,1848, 1847 and there are no clues to the fact that they moved very far.......
