Just had a look at the holdings in the ESRO - looks like the records that you require have not been deposited as they seem to start in 1907 for Mayfield

United Reformed Churches (Congregational): Alfriston from 1801; Boreham Street 1897-1946; Brighton and Hove, Clifton Road 1864-1927, Cliftonville from 1863, London Road 1846-1943, Queen Square 1856-98, Union Church 1898-1964, Union Street 1699-1898; Burwash 1766-1968; Eastbourne, Pevensey Road 1861-1973, Upperton Road from 1885; Hastings and St Leonards and East Sussex Auxiliaries (London Missionary Society) 1888-1908; Heathfield Independent 1814-1946; Herstmonceux 1811-1975; Lewes, the Tabernacle from 1816; Mayfield 1907-1983; Sussex Congregational Unions and Missionary Society: Eastern District 1890-1972; Sussex Home Mission Society 1922 (NC)

Hi Chris

Thanks for that - I had a horrible feeling that ESRO might not have microfilm copies.  Ho hum.  Suppose I'll have to visit TNA now.  :)

Still interested in any additional info regarding James Blackman (b1840). I have his birth and christening details but it's possible there's more information about his illegitimacy in Mayfield PR (particularly as he was born in the Almshouse). Any thoughts?

Well, not sure at the moment - but will have a good look through any records concerning Mayfield - just in case I spot something against the name Blackman

Got to keep our fingers crossed

Hi Chris

I wonder if you could have a look for the following in Burwash PR

Celia Weston baptised 26 July 1806 (according to IGI member submission) mother Anne Weston.  I would like confirmation please if possible and check that there isn't a father mentioned.  This will solve something which has been puzzling me for a while.

Thanks  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Chris

The two surnames are so interwoven, as it were, in Burwash it has been hard to track her down.

Holiday very nice, had some lovely weather, and some not so lovely weather.  Highlight - falling and twisting my ankle!!!  I keep telling Pete (partner) exercise is bad for me - we were on a walk ::) ::) ::)

Chris,
Many thanks for the offer of help.  If possible, please can you help me find more information regarding Richard Sinnock of Hastings and Battle.  He lived from 1740-1822 and was one of the founders of the Croft Chapel and Zion Chapel.  His memoirs are deposited at ESRO.

AMS5876 Memoir of Richard Sinnock of Hastings, London, Guildford and Battle, nonconformist shoemaker, 1762-1822

I'd like to learn who his parents and wife were so that I can link hiim to my tree.  I think that his wife was Mary Williams.

Regards

Mark

Hi Chris.

Many, many thanks for your very kind offer.

What I would like to know is the birth details for two people:

1.   Mary Allchin in West Firle
2.   George Stace in Arlington or West Firle

I have their marriage details, which show where these two were born but not when, although I am expecting they were born around 1775ish.

Location: Arlington, East Sussex,
Date: 24th Mar 1796:
Groom: George STACE, of this parish
Bride: Mary ALLCHIN, West Firle
Married by Licence

Not sure how much else I can ask of you but if you could check for the parents and any brothers and sisters of George Stace in Arlington or West Firle that would be brilliant, at this stage I have no idea if these two Parishes are STACE strongholds but by the 1841 Census there are almost none living in these Parishes.

Many many thanks.
Darren
Stace from Sussex, Kemp from Kent, Markham from Lincolnshire
