Worthing Workhouse
« on: Saturday 28 October 06 14:02 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me how I can find out when or how long a person has been in the workhouse?

My grt grandfather died in the workhouse in 1918.

Thanks

Hello Timetraveller, you will need to have a look at the Guardians Minutes books for the relevant Workhouse and see if your Grandfathers name appears anywhere.

It may be that he was just unwell and admitted to the infirmary where he subsequently died.
Worthing was served by the East Preston W/hse some info here

Any surviving records will be here...
West Sussex Record Office
