Jenn...I've just done my maths calculations and the dates fit. The names of the parents would seem to be a good match as well given that McGennis has been spelt a few ways in past research locating the names of the children.

I see that  Mary  died  in 1877 aged  22 at Maryborough

would  her death  certificate  indicate  what  her mothers  name  would be ie  if  she did  remarry  will  that be  her name  on  the death certificate?

still absolutey  no  luck  finding  elizabeths death  using all  the variations of  macgennis

The index for this death indicates that her parents are recorded as Richard MURPHY and Elizabeth McGUINNESS.
There may be more info on the death certificate, but only if her mother or possible step-father registered the death as it would be signed.
You could try and see who is buried with her.
