McLAIN Family of Ulster
« on: Thursday 02 November 06 06:44 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I'm trying to find the McLain family, most likely in County Antrim or County Down.

My 3rd great-grandfather is Henry McLain (b. 1831) and he married Anna Ellis (b. 11/11/1842) circa 1865.  They emigrated to NY in 1865-66 where Henry's brother John owned a painting business since 1853.  My great-great grandfather was born in June 1866 in Yonkers, NY.  I've been unable to find his baptismal or Henry McLain's death record so I have very light information.  Any help would be very much appreciate.

Hi ten7d5

What denomination were Henry and Anna?

I wonder which side of circa 1865 their marriage took place as whilst compulsory civil registration of non-Roman Catholic marriages began on April 1st, 1845 the registration
of all births, deaths and marriages didn't commence until January 1st, 1864.
