Hi

Had a look and sorry cannot see either of them, have tried a wildcard, tried with just Walter and just William, looked for the dad George ???  and nothing, do you have him on a later census, maybe as a married man?

Maybe some other more experienced person can help,

Jane ???

Will keep looking though ;)

Hi

I'm not sure this is going to be an easy one  :(
Can I ask:
Was William Walter JOLLEY a Greengrocer when he married Ellen 1895? What did their marriage cert say George's occupation was?
William Walter as W. JOLLY, stated age 30 in 1901 Census (YOB 1871) - is the 1868 year from his marriage age and what was his age at death?
And, do you have him in 1881 and 1891?

Sorry for all the questions !

Cheers
AMBLY.
PS I don't have ESP  ;D have been reading your other post

death certificate states he was 67 when he died in 1935 would put him born 1868

could have lied about age

Well this tells us what a Costamonger was  ;D
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/ABOUT-WORDS/2003-04/1050305012
"person who sells articles especially fruit and  vegetables from a street barrow or stall..."

What abt this one? I know his age is out (but agrees with 1901) and Ellen's is out (what if she were almost a  minor and was disguising her age and the fact they were not married) and his occ. wrong (maybe he changed jobs):

1891: West Ham St Andrew, Essex
RG12 - Piece: 1323 -  Folio 44 -  Pg82
ADDRESS: 16 Seaton Street
Head: William JOLLY 20, Gas Stoker, Hindon, Suffolk
Wife: Ellen JOLLY 20, b Shadwell London

I can't find this pair in 1901....?

Cheers

Hi ambly

That would certainly tied in with information i have from a cousin of mine who i have only just found out about this is a extract from part of a email she sent to me

Bear with me on this one I will explain after, I have an extract from 1891 census - it shows a William Jolly and Ellen Jolly both aged 20 in Seaton Street West Ham, it shows him from Suffolk and her from Shadwell, Shadwell comes under St George in the East Parish which is where Ellen was born.
I think that it is possible that these two got together and lived together over the brush as the saying goes, and lied about her age because at that time it would have made her about 16. If this is them and I now am inclined to think it might be, there is a lead that I might be able to follow to find this slippery little sod. He was short,by the way, what some would call dapper, used to wear a bowler type hat and carry a cane.
