BAKER - Hunts 1881 check please?
« on: Monday 06 November 06 00:07 GMT (UK) »
I have Martha Baker birth reg'd Sept 1848 Catworth Hunts.
There is a Martha Baker aged 32 born Patworth on the 1881 living in Kentchurch Hereford.
Could some kind soul please check the original for me to see if Patworth is actually Catworth?
If you could find her in 1871 I'd be really thrilled!!
TIA
Marlene

Image is definately Catworth on 1881-the person listed above Martha was b Renford and the "F" goes through the "C" of catford -making it (at first glance) look like patworth

Hannah Chattell is "in service" to the Holland family at langley Farm Beckenham Kent -there are between 15 and 30 servants employed there-Grooms Butler Coachman Housekeeper Housemaids etc - it seems to be more of an estate-as next door etc there are lodges housing more staff

Think this is Martha Chappell of the 1851 census-possibly she is sister to hannah

1841
Great Catsworth
Church End
Thomas Chattell 45 Shoemaker
Mary 45
Louisa 15
MARTHA 13
james 11
John 8

Thomas 3

same page but address High ST
William Chappell 45 Shoemaker
Ruth 30

Guess who lived in Church End 1851 -Martha baker -and LOTS of family-I have the census if you require it

Hi Suz
Thanks very much for the extras! I am just filling in gaps I had missed so I did know Martha was in Catworth in 1851 & 1861.
May I ask if you could look at 1851 for Thomas & Mary CHATTELL. ? I'd be interested in their birthplaces-  in particular Mary.
Thanks very much for your help.
