Did Enoch's daughter who became Mrs. Henry Lee have a brother named Joseph Logan? Was there a ship named the "Annie Lee" after her? Did she have another brother, a medical student, who died of tuberculosis?
Hallo Westoe  :)

Yes, Ann Thompson had a brother Joseph (born about 1821, sailmaker in 1841 census).  I don't know if he was called Joseph Logan Thompson, but as his mother's maiden name was Logan, this is quite probable!  I don't know the answers to your other questions, but it suggests you do!

Maybe this is where it went ........  ::) have you seen this already Julian ??

No wonder this guy cahanged his name ... sounds like all the Thompsons from South Shields shipping business went broke !! wonder if this guy is related ??

Excellent stuff - yes, I had found the old bailey proceedings, but without Westoe's intervention, I wouldn't have checked on Jospeh Logan thompson.

Thanks very much.  This all starts confirming the family stories my friend had heard.  I'll pass it all on.

Hello Julian,

Ask your friend if there are Henzells, Tates and Snowdons intermarried with his Thompsons. Is Annie Lee his direct antecedent?

Here's a bit about one of her father's ships, the "E.D.T. "(stands for Enoch Donkerley Thompson - that family was great on naming the ships after members of the family).

And some bits copied from reply to a similar question over on The Mariners List

You bet - it's as exciting as if it was your own!

Don't know about the Henzells Tates and Snowdons (except now that Joseph Logan Thompson married Alice Snowdon) but Annie Lee nee Thompson is a direct antecedent of my mate (who is a Lee).

Another question Julian,

If Anne (Thompson) Lee is your friend's direct antecedent, is it through
 1) Harry?
 2) Charles Havelock?
 3) Anne Mary?
 4) Carrie?
 5) Harriet?  or
 6) Clara?  or
am I missing some?

Cheers,
Westoe

P.S. Would trade photos of Anne Thompson and Henry Lee in exchange for hard information to fill in gaps.

In the archives of Sunderland Antiquarian Society there is a single-sheet document dated 2nd January 1792 headed  "Unanimous Association".  This lists 73 South Shields vessele giving the Owner's Name, the name of the vessel and Master and the burthern in keels.

Entry No 51 is for the vessel 'John and Robert' owned by John Thompson, having a burthern of 18 keels and Henry Elliott as master.
