Hi Jackeroo,
According to the "net", Walkerville Boys Home was also known as and renamed in 1955 to Kennion House.  It was a C of E children's home 1866-1982 at 11 Smith St Walkerville and now belongs to St Andrews School.

If you can find that link it appears records have been kept so with good luck you may be able to find some help through their Archives.
I just googled and found this info there is also a photograph of the home on the National Library of Australia site.
Hope that helps a little, and good luck - Sashar
