Hi Andrea
As mention by Christine, Irving Crow married
Hannah Chamberlain in 1888. There is no mention anywhere on the Qld CDs of Catherine Chamberlain (that I can see - I have been known to miss things).
Assuming that Hannah is the mother of your Violet
Irving Sydney Crow Marriage Hannah Chamberlain 22 Dec 1888 1889/000073 There is no location given on the CDs but the absence of a B in the ref number indicates the marriage was outside of Brisbane.
Hannah and Irving had three children - listed by Christine. The only one with Violet in the name is
Ada Sophia Violet Crow B Irving Sydney Hannah Chamberlain 28 May 1890 1890/000642
This is rather a distance from the name Violet Edith - but the father is correct as is the surname of the mother & the year of birth.
I can find no record of a birth for Hannah in Qld. There is a possible immigration record
http://www.archives.qld.gov.au/downloads/Indexes/immigration/ImmiC4.pdfThere is a Hannah Chamberlain arrived in 1883, aged 13, on board Silhet
On the same boat are a number of other Chamberlains including
William 45 William 18 Louisa 18 Joseph 1 James 4 Henry 8
Ann 45
The death of Hannah indicates parents William and Sarah Ann - so this is a possible immigration.
Hannah Crow Death William Chamberlain Sarah Ann Goddard 26 Jan 1894 1894/000199
I think I have found the immigrant family on the 1881 English Census - but not sure how to find out if it is your family - the marriage certificate for Hannah should give details of parent occupations and place of birth of Hannah. This is the census reference for 1881 - you can check it on the LDS site - RG11/1711 66/65 living in West Ham Essex. (The age of William and Ann is slightly out from 1883 - but they could well have lowered their ages to be accepted for assisted immigration). If you decide this is your family, please ask if you want a check in earlier census years.
Some years later Irving remarried and had at least another 6 children. The CDs stop at 1914, so he may have had more.
