Hi David,
Thank you very much for your response to my request. Sorry I did not get back sooner as I had trouble with my computer and I am glad to be back.

Benjamin was in Australia in 1861. We have been given info that he came out in 1858 with a brother and the brother died on board ship.

On the birth certificate of James Leonard born 1864 , it has Father Benjamin Leonard , born  Huddersfield and Mother  Jane Leonard ( formaly Sayles) . Issue Living And Deceased  - John Henry deceased , Sam Sayles 15years, William  13 years ,Benjamin 11years,
and on Ann Leonard birth cert it has in issue living and deceased - Samuel 17 yrs , William 15 yrs, Martha Ann  Dead ,Benjamin 10 yrs, Mary Jane 5 yrs and James 2 yrs. Mary jane James and Ann were born here in Victoria Australia.
I am wondering if they show up any where as the 1851 info you sent only has the three on it.
Thanks once again for the help.

Sorry, couple of questions.

The children listed are they all children of Benjamin and Jane: John Henry, Sam S, William, Benjamin, Martha Ann, James, Ann, Mary Jane. (sorry maybe silly question but just not seen the format of Australian birth certs before)
From the 1864 cert the age for Sam Sayles doesn't match the equivalent birth date on 1851 census. All the others, if ages accurate would have been born after 1851 census and would not show up?

These may be the births
William Leonard born Mar qtr 1851, Huddersfield
Benjamin Leonard born Mar qtr 1855, Huddersfield (although age on both birth certs is different?)
Martha Ann Leonard born Jun qtr 1853, Huddersfield (doesn't show on first cert but on second cert is between William and Benjamin, does this indicate when she was born in relation to them)

Let us know if this makes sense

David

Hi David,
I understand your answer, thanks for that.
Now I hope you can make sense of mine.

All the children are Benjamin and Jane's according to the birth certificates that I have of James and  Ann.
I have just gotten Mary Jane birth certificate and it has the following in columns,
      Child                                    Parents
1st Column
Name -        Sex      Name & surname, prof of father, age, and birthplace.
Mary Jane, female,  Benjamin Leonard, miner, 33,Huddersfield Yorkshire England.
2nd Column,
When and where married,    Issue Living and Deceased
1848,Hiddersfield,    Living Three Males, One Female, Deceased One Female.
Mary Jane was born in 1861 in Monkey Gully Victoria , James 1864 and Ann 1866.
The one with Martha in between William and Benjamin is what is written on Ann's  Brith certificate, but not on James.
On James Certificate it has a John Henry Deceased  before Sam Sayles 15years.
Each one is different and I am wondering if the John Henry was born outside the marriage??

Thanks for the update and hope you can make sense of my info.
