What terrible writing, even the relationships aren't clear are they?

The only thing I could help with was checking the 1841 census to see what that had to say and it seems to be SURGEON.  This could possibly be the second word in the top line which seems to be crossed through but is actually the line printed on the page.  So maybe starts "Late Surgeon .... "  the next to end on the top line looks like "150 Acres"

I think it might be Land p, short for landed proprietor.

Would that make sense?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi adrian,

He's enumerated twice !

On the other reference, it looks like
Late surgeon wood occupier of 150 acres land employing  5 labourers

Doesn't make much sense, does it?   ;D  ;D

For anyone who wants to have a look, it's HO107/1775 190 12

Well done Tati, I think the word wood should be NOW, which does make it make sense.  At least that page clarifies William's relationship which wasn't too clear on the other page

Thanks guys.

I does all make sence.

His nephew was a surgeon, so possibly a family occupation.

Had not found him on the 1841, so many thanks for that.
