My gt gt gt grandfather William Thomas came from Knighton and he met and married Lucy Pearson from Bilston, staffs... they both moved to pendlebury, swinton in 1872 - 1874 so William could mine at Newtown Pit.. nicked name " little bilston".... Would William have spoke Welsh or English... Is Knighton or was Knighton a welsh speaking villiage...

English, little Welsh was spoken in Radnorshire at this time

Thanks for answering me.. I keep imaginging what my ancestors accent would of sounded like... I have visions of a lovely deep welsh accent!
