Emily Long
« on: Monday 11 December 06 23:30 GMT (UK) »
I have been attempting to find Emily Long on the British Censuses anmd failed. She was born either Keynsham Somerset or in Gloucestershire in 1842. Her Father was Charles Long and Mother, I think, Elizabeth. She married James Helps in Sydney NSW in 1871. I'm now thinking maybe they didn't emigrate together but perhaps she was over there pre 1871. I was wondering if someone could look at passenger lists for the Long family. Clutching at straws I know but I'm ever hopeful!! Thankyou.

Hi Joanna you can search/confirm siblings birth's perhaps on the NSW site  www bdm.nsw.gov.au.

Do you have their marriage cert as you can order it from this site. I checked and it is recorded there.

As you probably know, Emily died in 1917 in Burwood.
By ordering her death certificate, you may answer many of your questions, as long as the informant has accurate information.
Use
 http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au

and be sure to read the advice on transcription offers before you order.  It will save you some money.
If the informant is correct, you may learn when she arrived in Aust.that way.
