1851/1861 census - Brighton please
« on: Wednesday 17 November 04 11:06 GMT (UK) »
 :) Hi
I am looking for a Jesse Page, born 1850 so will show in the 1851 census as a baby. His father was Edward Page,a farmer. According to most censuses Jesse was born in Arlington, but i haven't found any connections there. According to the 1871 census he was born in Brighton so i am hoping that i can find him there in 1851 (or 1861,aged 10 yrs)
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Tango :) :)

Hi Paula
Many thanks for looking up the Page family.Ive kept it for future reference as it may prove relevant eventually. Ive often thought that Jesse might have been registered as a James Page as i cant find his birth certificate under his normal name. Oh how i wish this hobby was more simple !  ::) ::)

Cheers
Tango

Hi Valley

Found this on the 1851 Census transcription for Arlington

Edward Page, 47, Ag Lab and his wife Jane, 31 together with Ann aged 17, Edward aged 16, Henry aged 11, Francis Jane aged 10, Jesse aged 6, Sofee aged 5, Alfred aged 2.

Looks as though the first 2 were from a previous marriage - but wonder if aged 6 for Jesse maybe a transcription error and it should be 6 months not years?

Anything else look familiar about it (names, siblings etc)
