CHERRETT surname descendents
« on: Sunday 17 December 06 06:39 GMT (UK) »
Looking for any information on any CHERRETT/CHERRITT family, or descendents of, who emigrated to Australia.

Possibility of surnames not being CHERRETT because of marriage.

Interested in any information.

Hi Ruth,

I'm aware of family in Victoria and Western Australia at different times, but I'm looking in the broadest sense for family as I'm trying to gather as much information on the CHERRETT Family name as possible.

I know that there are current family in Victoria for certain, and some in NSW, not sure about WA.

Hi Karen
This is the BDM New South Wales, it is a free initial start
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/
Victoria, you can do an intial search & pay from there but quite reasonable.
http://online.justice.vic.gov.au/
Western Aust
http://www.justice.wa.gov.au/
Someone else may help but because you are unable to give any dates I am unable to help further except to give you the following sites which may help.
http://www.coraweb.com.au/
Sorry, not much help but like I said, someone else with cd's may be able to find something.

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for the information.

I do know that my Grandfather migrated to Western Australia.  The details that I have are as follows:

Phoebe ANTHONY
Vera CHERRETT
Walter George CHERRETT  (my grandfather)

possibly also a Lewis ANTHONY.

Phoebe married Lewis in Christchurch, England in September 1918.  My grandfather was born in 1907 and had said that he was 10 when he came to Australia, but as his mother re-married in England in 1918 I think he was more likely 11 when he came here.

I also have details of  another family member as follows:

Reginald CHERRETT  born in Bournemouth, Hampshire, England arrived in Australia in about 1913.  He worked in Wagga Wagga and married in Goulburn, so I'm guessing that he emigrated to Sydney, but can't be certain.

Reginald married in 1920 in Goulburn NSW.
