Birth and census look up

Hi   Arthur age 7 was Grandpa.  His father Charles George was said to have changed his name. Trying to find out if this is true. All I know is last name was Bramble. And he went AWOL from the royal Navy about 1860 or so. Not to proud of that because we had People in Boer WWI WWII and all fine soldiers. Thanks for reply  al b
