Hi Sue  :)

IN
LOVING MEMORY OF
JOHN WILLIAM
SON OF THE LATE
SAMUEL AND MARY SHARPE
WHO PASSED AWAY JUNE ??
AGED 65 (?) YEARS
THY WILL BE DONE
ALSO OF AGNES SHARPE
BELOVED SISTER OF THE ABOVE
WHO FELL ASLEEP JUNE ??
??

The question marks are what I can't read.  Is this the only copy you have of the photo?  Just wondered if there is a bigger version.

Cheers
Prue

Looks more like 60 years to me.  Is there anyway you can do a rubbing of the stone?  I appreciate it may be on the other side of the world from you, but just a thought  ;)

Sue

hi,
you say its the only photo, is it possible to re-scan it at a higher DPI??
I dont suppose that you could get another photo of it? is the stone near to you, or some miles away?

regards

Julie

I think you may be right debbie. I was only concentrating on the 2nd figure, which was the hardest to read from the original image!
I'll go with 60
I have tried the dates in a similar manner, but it is a waste of time
Sorry
Mudge

Nothing to apologise for Mudge...it's just my interpretation  ;)  I've often found that if you can actually take a rubbing, these things appear clearer...or even get a little brush & very carefully clean away at the indentation...but I always apologise to the occupants!!  :D
